  2. There's no such thing as rising damp in a modern house and it has nothing
    to do with the DPC. A whole industry has been established on a myth!! Water
    only ever goes down; it's why we have lakes. I can't remember the last time
    I saw a river flowing up!!! There is capilliary action, but the degree it
    affects modern buildings is very low indeed. For any significant issues the
    bricks need to be very soft, the mortar very rich in lime and have little
    or no heating in the building, It isn't an issue!

    Craig makes reference to the BWPDA - British Wood Preserving and Damp
    Association - when looking for contractors to solve damp issues. This has
