I'd think "check the thermostat" would be one of the first steps, before
ReplyDeleteyou pull the fridge out and start unscrewing the back panel.
Good video. Most refrigerators have the cooling fins buried where they
ReplyDeletecollect dust and recycle heat right back into the unit. I Bought a
Sunfrost. I live offgrid and it was the best I could find for efficiency.
It has Its cooling fins on top where the heat easily escapes.
I tried to defrost for 24 hrs.and I also cleaned the coils in back of the
ReplyDeleterefrigerator. Sll the ice had melted from the coils located in the freezer
but my refrigerator is still warm. The freezer is working fine. What next.
I have a LG french door frig/freezer (on the bottom)
Good info.something else to think about. Absorption refrigeration has been
ReplyDeletearound for 150 years and it is very economical
Thank you! I was going to buy a new one. I watched this video, then i went
ReplyDeleteand cleaned the dust out the back and turned that little dial with a flat
head screwdriver and my fridge can right on. Thanks again!
Thanks bro, sorry for the delay on your answer. It was some relay switch
ReplyDeletethat was just replaced that starts the compressor. $90. Thank God we didn't
have to buy a new one!..Thanks again...
hey same problem i had, do you know what can cause the relay to go bad, or
ReplyDeleteis just a cheap make?
@Danny77uk This was considered a "normal" sized fridge in this country up
ReplyDeleteuntil recently, when double-door mammoth-sized models started gaining
popularity. This isn't the smallest household fridge available, there are
two smaller sizes you can get. Yes, the word "fridge" is very common
here... what the heck did you think we called them?
I get people with this problem for $175.00 I fix those too for $50.00 lol
ReplyDelete@bbishoppcm Freezer or Refridgerator
ReplyDelete2007? my 1983 Maytag works fine without any repair ever done to it. quality
ReplyDeleteis going away...
you sound like a nerd.
ReplyDelete@IamFat32 They used to be called iceboxes, IIRC.
ReplyDeleteput oil in the comp
ReplyDeletethanks, this video helped i had a same issue and i changed relay and now
ReplyDeleteworking fine
@bbishoppcm ice box
ReplyDeleteyou could have saved yourself some trouble by pouring a bottle of relay
ReplyDeleteclean in your electrical cord.oh well live and learn .
weres the world of obsolete technology? in your intro?
ReplyDelete@raymangold22 lol, I can't think of somthing that would make sense for
ReplyDeletecomputer.. big oversized calculating machines? lol
If you have to replace the compressor, does the new compressor come with
ReplyDeletethat relay switch system?
@Fuzy2K Thats right, I totally forgot about that.
ReplyDeletehmmm. I bought the same fridge (black) around the same time period. Luckily
ReplyDeleteit has no signs of trouble, but hey at least this is good to know!
I think everyone that speaks english uses the word fridge, I'm just sayin.
ReplyDeleteWhat else would we call them (besides refridgerator)
@WinbookXL3 I am re-branding the channel as simply "BBISHOPPCM's World"
ReplyDeleteYou're not obligated to watch the video. Feel free to watch one of the many

Hi. Is there a way to determine if it's either a START RELAY problem or a
ReplyDeleteCondensor Problem? My fridge had a burning smell one evening... the next
day the burning smell wnet away, but it didn't get cold at that point. ide
by side unit, by KitchenAid. Even the frezer stopped getting cold. I was
first thinking it's the compressor, but now after seeing your video, I
don't know if it's the Start Relay unit. How do I know for sure before
buying parts? Thanks.
Nice tip, i'm going to try that next time. We are to used to just throwing
ReplyDeletethings away these days without even trying to repair.
Thanks for the video.....I bought the same frig from lowes and in 5 years
ReplyDeleteand 1 month it developed the exact same problem as yours. Unfortuneately, I
let it go to long. I finally replaced the start/run relay but the
compressor would just trip out (overlaod).....I bought a new one but, this
time I'm going to replace the compressor myself and keep it for a spare. I
think it shouldn't be too hard as I've done it several times on
cars......wish me well:)
Nice kichen.
ReplyDelete@bbishoppcm "cooling humming door things!"
