  2. Great video, thanks for posting. I need to fix an area where the decking
nails are pushing the decking itself away from the rafter and making my
roof look like a small hill

  7. Appreciate this video Gary. Had some shingles fly off the roof a few storms
ago! This is fairly precise and on point.

  8. Great video Gary, thanks. Regarding the comment about using urethane
adhesive on flying tabs, what do you recommend? I live in Florida and on my
southern exposure I would like to ensure that the wind won't easily get
those that are loose... thanks in advance.

  12. Holy cow awesome video. Please come to my house!

  13. Nice job. I am a carpenter also and hate seeing poor roof repairs. The only
thing I'd add is using urethane adhesive to glue down your replacement
shingle and any tabs you broke free around the repair. Of course the roof
you showed needed a truck load of urethane to glue all the tabs down.

  17. Thank you Gary for this video. I am removing an old chimney and didn't want
to take all shingles off to ridge. Now I see how the nails will need to be
    removed above my work area!!

  23. Ill let you know as a roofer, always give home owners the option to seal
the shingles if they are in decent shape and just replace the few that are
wind damaged.Sealers last almost ten-15 years, greatly extending the life
of the shingles. As a homeowner, I will let you know, its cheaper to remove
your own shingles, and just pay for installation.Installation takes a
    day.Tear down takes forever.

  24. great video Gary. You wouldnt happen to have a video on how to replace some
bad decking on the edge of a roof where i am assuming my shingles or
flashing has allowed water to ruin that plywood? I have a chunk of bad
decking that ive got to replace very soon but im not sure of the best
method to do so. do i need to seal the cuts i make to patch that area, can
i reuse my shingles if i remove them nicely and they are in good shape?

    Very helpful and clear.

  27. I cover all the timber with the bitumen before adding the felt as it hardly
costs anything and provides a waterproof layer itself.

  28. hallooo...roofing nails in roof...made specifically for felt they are short
and have a larger than normal surface area to deter rain from entering felt
and roof. (PS they've been used for many many years)

  29. This clear, easy-to-follow guide is essential for people like me, with only
basic DIY skills. I followed the instructions to the letter, and it worked
out great. Still managed to scratch my garden tiles though, despite using
the hook blade! Many thanks IKO.

  34. I have measured it. 3.30metre in lengh. 2.50metre in width. Now I shall buy
it also purchase nails. Then I need a labour only estimate

  35. I was thinking the same thing. I was wondering when he was gonna go grab
the torch and the propane tank or at least some mastic.

  36. WTH???? MM? clamp nails? Where are you at? I see IKO which must mean you
are in Canada. That figures since they are the only brand shingles around my
are that are an oddball size.We call that roll roofing here in the
states.Which I wouldnt use that stuff on anything I care about.

  37. Very grateful for this video which makes me confident I can replace my shed
felt. And have now ordered IKO products on Internet - it would be plain
rude to use other manufacturer after you went to all that effort! Hope your
products are as good as your video, I'll let you know in 15 years! Thanks.

  39. At 3:40 he should say: "Now that you've gone to all that trouble, make
dozens of holes right through your new felt." Torch-on all the way.

  40. great video - nice and simpe - definitely not Canadian - and what;s in a

  41. Hi,I have a large garden workshop made of wood, and it leaks very bad.The
roof design is a pent style, there is a slight incline and it leaks where
the roof slopes down at the back. The roof is 8x4 OSB board ,ive had 2 sets
of roofing felt on it (thin) plastic sheets and a thin tarpaulin and it
still leaks!!. Originally it rained heavily before felted. If i remove the
old wood, renew&paint it with bitumen will this waterproof it? Is my leak
problem cos it got wet before i had chance to felt it?
